Be a part of history as we comemorate the first National Black Bear Day that was created in Plymouth and will be always be held on the first Saturday in June in conjunction with our event.

$50 per person (12 person limit per tour)

Join Neil as he takes you to the Pungo National Wildlife Refuge to learn about photographing bears in the wild.

He will be driving the Baptist Church Passenger Van that departs accross from the Plymouth Police Station, 132 E. Water St.

Registration: Online registration is closed. After Friday, 3 PM you must sign up and make your payment in person at the Bearfest Information Tent.

There are only two ways to see and appreciate the natural beauty of the expansive Roanoke River Delta- by water or by air. At the NC Black Bear Festival it will be possible to get a "God's Eye View" of this natural wonder. There are over 50 miles of shore line within 5 miles of Plymouth! This is the lower part of the largest intact hardwood bottomland east of the Mississippi River. For $20 you will experience a breath taking 3 minute helicopter ride over Historic Downtown Plymouth, the Roanoke River Delta and see where it flows into the Albemarle Sound.Don't miss this amazing opportunity.

Colleen Olfenbuttel and Chris Turner will be our featured speakers at our festival. Colleen has served as the statewide Black Bear and Furbearer Biologist for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) since 2007. She is a Certified Wildlife Biologist® and has been working in the wildlife profession for 20 years.

Bear and Company will have a stuffed animal workshop. Their furry friends are excited to be adopted by kids of all ages. You’ll experience the fun of choosing one of our lovable critters and getting your new forever friend perfectly huggable with our custom stuffer! All Bear and Company friends come with a wishing heart, t-shirt, adoption certificate, and convenient drawstring backpack. You can even accessorize your new friend with a "take me home" outfit!

New this year is the airconditioned Black Bear Tent Theater where you can watch these coastal giants in their natural habitat and learn why we have the world’s largest black bears and the highest black bear densities on the planet. The film will also include a tribute to National Black Bear Day that began right here in Plymouth, NC last year.

The Embers are widely considered a musical MARVEL and have laid the groundwork for what has become known as ‘Beach Music’ in the Carolinas, Virginias, the gulf coast region of North America and every beach in between. Having been inducted into the South Carolina Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame and most recently the South Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame, The Embers are honored to carry the moniker of North Carolina’s Official Ambassadors of Music.

His fine art prints have been featured in many exhibitions and can also be found in several galleries. Mark’s photos have appeared in dozens of magazines and other publications. He will be sharing some of his skills and knowledge about bear photography in this free seminar!
